ANTIQUE INDIAN HAND PAINTED FIGURATIVE FOLK ART SARANGI STRING INSTRUMENT (most likely 19th century)
Pretty, decorative, hand painted wooden stringed instrument. From some online searching, believe that this is a sarangi, Indian instrument. There must have originally been a bow, but none was present when purchased. There are four hand painted figures on a black background, with gold and red detailing. It's beautifully hand-painted, depicting a south Asian man & woman with flowers and other designs. It's in good physical condition. The pegs all seem to move as-intended and the strings are mostly still intact, etc.

Great shape, neck firmly attached to body/belly-not bowed or loose, main pegs and support pegs present and in overall good condition. Minor wear to paint on some portion of the edge. Beautifully painted instrument, well maintained.
