There is a online biography of John Alexander McGill (1842-1924) at
    https://househistree.com/people/dr-john-a-mcgill
"In Chicago, McGill set up a private practice as well as establishing the firm of Dr John A. McGill & Co., which he ran with his wife. They soon made their fortune selling "miracle" remedies concocted at their laboratories on the corner of 20th Street and Indiana Avenue. One of these was "Orange Blossom Suppositories" billed as "a positive cure for ALL female diseases," though in 1915 they were found guilty for misbranding that particular medicine and fined a whopping... ! Despite being what we would term as a "Quack" his career remained otherwise in tact, or at least certainly during his lifetime."
